Beyond insight, toward meaningful change

Couples therapy for partners who understand their patterns—but still feel stuck inside them.

Insight can explain what happens. Change begins with experiencing something different together.

You already know what happens between you. You can name the cycle, trace where it comes from, and still find yourselves having the same painful conversation.

Modern Couples Project helps you move from understanding your relationship to changing what happens inside it—so you can find your way back to each other when things go wrong.

A look, a tone or a familiar silence—and suddenly, you’re back in the same place.

You’ve read the books, listened to the podcasts, learned your attachment styles, or tried couples therapy before. You understand why one of you reaches harder while the other pulls away. You know defensiveness makes things worse. You have promised each other that next time will be different.

And still, despite everything you understand—and how much you care about each other—the same cycle somehow keeps pulling you both back in.

This does not mean your relationship is broken. It means insight alone has not been enough to change the experience you keep having with each other.

01.

Change in real time

Understanding your cycle matters. The deeper work is creating a different experience with each other when that cycle begins.

Designed for depth and movement

You don’t need another place to have the same conversation

At Modern Couples Project, couples do more than talk about their relationship. We work with the relationship as it is happening in the room.

We notice when protection takes over, slow down what usually happens too quickly, and help you reach what is underneath the anger, distance or defensiveness—so you can respond to each other differently.

We may challenge both of you, but we do so with compassion and without blame. Neither partner is treated as the problem.

Challenge without blame

The format is matched to the relationship, so the clock does not automatically determine the depth of the work.

We name what needs attention and challenge patterns that hurt the relationship—without turning either partner into the problem.

A clear sense of direction

You should know what you are working on, what is changing, and where the relationship still needs attention.

01

HOW CHANGE BEGINS

Understand the pattern. Change the experience. Build a different relationship.

SEE IT

Recognize the pattern that takes over the relationship—without turning either partner into the problem.

02

CHANGE IT

Slow the pattern down, reach what is underneath it, and have a different interaction in real time.

03

LIVE IT

Practice repair, emotional risk, and responsiveness until finding your way back becomes more possible outside therapy.

The goal is not to make your relationship dependent on therapy. It is to help the relationship itself become more capable—more able to recognize when you are caught, repair sooner, and say the vulnerable thing instead of the protective one.

There may be a great deal of love here—and still, something between you has grown thinner.

Less curiosity. Less affection or sex. More logistics. More parallel living. The same argument in different clothing.

Or perhaps a betrayal, transition, parenting conflict, or loss of trust has made it impossible to continue as you have been.

Modern Couples Project may be a good fit if you:

  • care deeply about the relationship and do not want to tolerate the same patterns for another five or ten years

  • are willing to look honestly at how each of you contributes to what happens between you

  • have insight but struggle to access it when emotions run high

  • have tried therapy or learned communication skills without creating lasting movement

  • want a thoughtful, personalized process rather than a generic couples curriculum

FOR COUPLES WHO WANT MORE THAN PEACEFUL COEXISTENCE

You do not both need to arrive equally comfortable with therapy. There is room here for the partner who is ready to begin and the partner who is unsure, guarded, or worried about being blamed.

A FORMAT SHAPED around the work

Your relationship should not have to fit into a one-size-fits-all model.

Some couples benefit from ongoing therapy. Others need extended time to work through an entrenched pattern, a major rupture, or a decision that cannot be meaningfully addressed in a standard session.

Your process begins with understanding what is happening in the relationship, what you want to change, and what kind of therapeutic container is most likely to support that work.

01

02

Extended Sessions

More room to stay with important work without repeatedly stopping just as something meaningful begins to emerge.

03

Couples Therapy

Intentional ongoing work for couples who want to change recurring patterns and strengthen connection over time.

Focused Interviews

Concentrated relationship work for couples who need depth, momentum, or support around a particular stuck place.

thoughtful from the beginning

More than an appointment—a process shaped around your relationship.

From the first conversation, we take time to understand the relationship you are bringing in: what keeps happening between you, what you have already tried, where you feel most stuck and what each of you hopes could become different.

What we learn together helps shape the focus, pace and structure of your work—so the process reflects what your relationship actually needs.

You will feel that your relationship is being held in mind—not simply scheduled.

EXPERIENCED RELATIONSHIP CARE, DEEPLY HUMAN

Warmth matters. So does having a therapist who can help the work move forward.

Sindee Gozansky, LCPC, Founder

Modern Couples Project was founded by Sindee Gozansky, LCPC, an experienced couples therapist whose work brings together emotional depth, relational expertise, honest directness, and a steady belief in people’s capacity to change.

The work is informed by attachment-based, experiential, and relational approaches, including Emotionally Focused Therapy and Relational Life Therapy. But couples do not need to arrive knowing the language of any particular model. What matters is helping something genuinely different happen between you.

A MODERN WAY TO CARE FOR A RELATIONSHIP

You do not have to wait until your relationship is falling apart to take it seriously.

Modern couples are carrying careers, parenting, intimacy, identity, technology, aging parents, changing roles, and enormous expectations of partnership. Even strong relationships can lose oxygen beneath the weight of a full life.

Seeking support is not an admission that the relationship has failed. It can be an intelligent, intentional investment in the life you are building together.
